Greeting you all from Susumu Sakai , Chairman , JBS Holdings Ltd. I set foot in Bangladesh in 2012. My first impression of Bangladesh was when I visited the capital city Dhaka. It has the highest population density in the world, and the energy of its people was something else, and the development speed of the city is very fast. In particular, the warmth and vitality of the people was something that cannot be felt in Japan today. As I interacted with the people of Bangladesh many times, I found myself being increasingly fascinated by the charm of the country. So, when I consulted with my friend and business partner, Md Kamal Hossain, he had a suggestion to establish JBS Holdings Ltd. When asked why I establish a developer and building company, I have two answers. The first is that I myself am a lawyer in Japan, handling legal affairs related to real estate, and I personally had cases of real estate and construction. I understand fully that Japan and Bangladesh have different laws in various areas such as building law, but the national borders do not matter when speaking on the fundamental basis of what makes a building good or bad. It is one of my strengths as someone that has been working in real estate and legal affairs. And the second reason is the biggest factor in the establishment of JBS, but my father was a first-class architect in Japan. I have been watching my father as an architect since I was a kid, and the joy and excitement of seeing an actual building designed by my father is something that still resonates with me deeply. I feel that I may have inherited my passion for buildings from my father, and it is linked to my establishment of JBS although it is in a slightly different form. I would like to leave that feeling and passion in the form of buildings in a land called Bangladesh. Because of these reasons, I established JBS Holdings Ltd. As mentioned above, urban development in Bangladesh is moving at a fast pace. Walking around the city, I sometimes wonder if the buildings are really safe and secure. When I think about whether I can confidently hand over such buildings to customers who make such once-in-a-lifetime purchases, the first feeling that I have is distress. First and foremost, I want to provide our customers with a space that can be safely passed on from parents to children, and from those children to their children. And I want to share with my customers the emotions and delights of the buildings that my father designed when I was a child. At the same time, the excitement and delight of our customers is the excitement and delight of all of us at JBS. It’s our greatest happiness to share these things together and make them a part of our customers’ lives. I also think that I may be able to give back to Bangladesh and its wonderful people, even if my contribution may be very slight. All JBS employees will not forget their original intentions and strive to deliver excitement, joy and appreciation to all customers. Please look forward to the future of JBS.
